"This is an ongoing project started in November 2019. As we were preparing to moved to our new house, our kids decided to bring a souvenir from our old garden and settled for two rocks they had dug out of the soil during the previous spring. I was really impressed how they were able to give integrity to a couple inanimate objects and bring them to life. I had seen this process before, when a simple rock can be taken out of its context and analyzed emotionally or scientifically until it becomes almost a living thing.
This happens a lot with interplanetary exploration when for example images of an asteroid or planet suddenly transforms it into an object with an integrity of its own. So, I decided to replicate this process, and photographed these rocks. Afterwards I made drawings of them, which were meant to look like old fashion computer prints, hence capturing some of the process by which we breath meaning in to otherwise neglected, inanimate forms."
